The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Center for Nutritional Medicine (EKFZ) was established at the Technical University of Munich in 2003. Initial funding is provided by a generous donation of the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung, Bad Homburg.
The center consists of two chairs and a trade group and is on 2 faculties (Faculty of Medicine, Science Center Weihenstephan) distributed.
The EKFZ combines in a unique way so that medical and nutritional science.

The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Center for Nutritional Medicine to be pursued as an overarching goal, a nationally and internationally recognized institution for Nutritional Medicine. The case involves the following tasks:
Development and positioning of the multiple nutritional medicine as a discipline
Linking basic and clinical research on central issues of Nutritional Medicine
Development of advanced medical nutrition concepts for prevention and treatment of diseases such as obesity nutrition-related prosperity, type 2 diabetes and cancer
Quality training and education in the field of nutritional medicine
