The UMR Technology (UMT) ACTIA ALICE is an association between Team Nutrition Metabolism & Health ITERG and UMR NutriNeurO.
As part of the call for proposals for joint technological units launched for the year 2011 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Rural Affairs and Spatial Planning, the Directorate General for Education and Research decided dated November 3, 2011 for a period of 5 years, the approval of ALICE "Lipid Nutrition & Brain" program.
Technological mixed unit (UMT) is a tool for partnership between technical institute and public research unit, set up and supported by the Ministry of Food.
A research challenge at the interface of human nutrition and health to contribute to healthy ageing.
With the increase in our society, the number of seniors and the prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases, ageing population has become a major public health issue.
Besides predisposing factors that offer no possibility of prevention, there are environmental risk factors affecting the normal and pathological brain ageing, in which it would be possible to take preventive action. Food, especially fat, is part of current research directions.
Faced with this major public health issue and the light of scientific and regulatory developments relating to nutrition and health, development of oil commodities, vegetable or marine, the development of new fat phases and the development of functional foods and food supplements to delay or limit the deleterious effects of brain ageing represent a real economic challenge in the field of nutrition and health.
