The Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences, University of Porto is the newest academic unit of the University of Porto, incorporated in 1996 and adopted its present name in 1999. The College developed from the School of Nutrition, University of Porto , created in 1976 and gave her Bachelor of Nutrition. The FCNAUP remains the only national public college to confer the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition.

In order to resolve the uncertainty and limitations of the facilities of the Faculty, the Dean of the UP in 2002 began the process of tendering for project design architecture of the new building. In the coming years, new facilities capable of ensuring adequate to the challenges that the FCNAUP proposes, we will continue to build a strong and organized academic community, based on a degree of high quality training students pre- and post-graduate students who actively participate in setting in interdisciplinary research and community intervention.
