The Department of General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery is part of the traditional Surgical University Clinic Heidelberg. It is composed of a central surgical unit, a day hospital for outpatient surgery and interdisciplinary facilities. In addition, numerous special consultation support our patients with rare diseases. Completing the specialist care by the interdisciplinary emergency department, which is manned around the clock.

In addition to serving in the outpatient setting and on the general wards, we provide our patients on the specific intermediate care and intensive care units. This shows how much our patients benefit from the teamwork between nursing, surgeons and anesthesiologists. While the anesthesiologists and surgeons ensure optimal, tailored to the individual patient and his medical history treatment, the colleagues of care to ensure that they are medically during their stay and good nursing care.
